Dark Side of the Moon

Dark Side of the Moon

It’s the end of another working week, I return home in search of some much needed tranquillity. But no such luck, I am instead, greeted by an infusion of much noise pollution in the suburbs. The incessant yapping of neighbouring dogs, home alone and bored out of their collective skulls.

I’m surrounded by loud droning music, it not only invades my sacred space, its also vexatious to the soul. If this isn’t enough to disorientate and dis-empower one’s already overloaded senses into submission. The high speed screaming sounds of a neighbour’s brush cutter joins in the chorus.

Thank goodness for the creature comforts of air conditioning. It not only does a stellar job of cooling one’s core temperature and temper. it also allows us to sound proof our homes (to some degree) from any noise pollution in the suburbs.

Has the world gone completely feral? Is Attention Deficit Disorder on the rise? No of course not, what’s occurring is the onset, cause and effect influence of yet another Full Moon. With emotions already running high in our neighbourhood it’s going to be a very challenging weekend. I can’t help sensing that our Emergency Services staff will be run off their feet over the next few nights.

It’s not hard to see how one’s own built up level of frustration turns toxic and is expressed as anger. And why one’s own suppressed aggression is vented during acts of uncontrollable hostility and volatility. Or why we can’t help but take everything so seriously, even something satirical becomes personal.

Astonishingly, its atomic bomb nature can be unleashed without warning, reason or provocation. Once our human sensory system is triggered an unstoppable force seeks to destroy its intended target. In the blink of an eye, maximum damage is inflicted and quite often the result is absolute chaos

This being its customary “whatever it takes” mindset to snuff out any perceived threat or risk of attack. Most interestingly, our adverse reactions stem from our own innate fears and misconceptions. More so than the incident itself; this is sure to escalate with the involvement of drugs or alcohol.

More important, than the effects of any Full Moon, is the unprecedented Escalation of Hostilities, aggression and drunken violence that is occurring amongst our youth today. This problematic disorder of behaving badly can no longer be attributed to just the effects of the Full Moon. Because without failure every weekend is witness to a weekend war zone.

While holidaying in Darwin, Northern Territory (N.T.) recently, it was a hot topic of discussion. In the written media. The N.T. News not only encouraged their readers to write in with their thoughts about how to best tackle the problem. They were also going to collate their readers responses and present it to the N.T. government to form an action plan.

While there were many positive suggestions and contributions made, what impressed me the most were those which focused on self-respect, accountability, prevention and intervention. While it’s a complex mind field to approach, I believe that it’s more than possible. It’s also Fundamentally Important that we adopt a renewed perspective and one that embraces holistic and energy healing. I see this as being the most proficient method to put an end to this intolerable antisocial behaviour.

What inspired me to write this poem?

I’ve always been fascinated by the Full Moon energies and wanted to write about the cause and effect scope of influence that it has on us unsuspecting humans. Fortunately after many months that moment has now arrived. The concept stemmed after Channel Seven’s Today Tonight screened a Full Moon feature story episode back in early May 2010.

It was about the adverse influences that the Full Moon had on the public, and consequently the resultant increased workload that it created for the personnel and organisations of the collective Emergency Services. The Today Tonight reporter also interviewed some of the Q.H. medical staff at the Gold Coast Hospital. They not only confirmed encountering and experiencing such behaviour, but it had now been proven scientifically.

The report was conducted by the Medical Journal of Australia. The study was called the Dark Side of The Moon and it took place at the Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital N.S.W between August 2008 and July 2009. If you would like to peruse the three page pdf file, please contact me by e-mail.
